Coombes Girls School

Dame Jacqueline is honoured by Coombe

Dame Jacqueline Wilson meets some of our students to sign books and answer questions about life as a children's author and ex Coombe girl.

All the staff and students at Coombe Girls' School and Sixth Form were honoured that Dame Jacqueline Wilson was able to join us on Monday 3rd July to officially open the Wilson building for us.  Dame Jacqueline Wilson is a former Coombe Girl and one of our best known alumni; her books are very popular with the girls and it’s wonderful not only that we were able to celebrate her literary achievements and talents as a former pupil but also in person in the naming of this new building.

Thank you for all our guest who joined us to celebrate the opening. We are also looking forward to the final completion of the project over the summer which will involve the demolition of the old 'green' block in the centre of our grounds and the landscaping of the quad area which we are hoping will be a whole school community project.

Guests were invited to tour the building, enjoy refreshments in the new staffroom courtesy of the PFA as well as our very own and extremely talented Coombe String Quartet providing the entertainment for the evening.
