KTSA LEADERSHIP PROGRAMMES
 

PREPARING FOR MANAGEMENT LED BY KING’S COLLEGE, WIMBLEDON 

One year programme for colleagues interested in the step towards middle leadership.  The programme covers six twilight sessions led by a variety of senior leaders from different schools and education consultants. 

2019 -20 sessions (all 4.15pm - 6pm):

NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION IN MIDDLE LEADERSHIP (NPQML) 

         Kingston Teaching School Alliance 2019-20 
         National Professional Qualification in Middle Leadership

Y       Year-long programme cost via KTSA: £890

Introduction

The NPQML is a one year programme exploring middle leadership.  The Kingston Teaching School Alliance works in partnership with UCL Institute of Education to deliver a nationally accredited programme for middle leaders.  The programme is delivered by senior leaders from Kingston Schools:

        NPQ Curriculum Framework

        The curriculum framework is built around six content areas and seven leadership                        behaviours, all of which are common to each level of NPQ, enabling leaders to develop
        the depth and breadth of knowledge and experience progressively through the levels:

        The six content areas set out what a leader should know or be able to do:

Managing Resources & Risks Strategy & Improvement Working in Partnership
Teaching & Curriculum Excellence Leading with Impact Increasing Capacity

The seven leadership behaviours focus on how the best leaders operate:

Commitment Resilience Awareness Integrity
Collaboration Personal Drive Respect  

Participants

The programme is aimed at those who are, or are aspiring to become, a middle leader with responsibility for leading a team e.g. a key stage leader, a curriculum area leader, a pastoral leader, a subject leader, a SENCo, or a head of department.  This includes those who are, or are aspiring to be, a middle leader with cross-school responsibilities e.g. a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE).

Programme

In addition to the 4 face-to-face (F2F) whole day sessions detailed below, the NPQML programme follows a blended learning format. This consists of workplace learning and practice activities, peer and facilitated learning, reading, structured reflection, online learning and a 360 diagnostic assessment.

Assessment

        Written assignment (4,500 words, excluding supporting documents).

        Part A: Improving pupil progress and attainment; Part B: Improving Team capability
