Coombe Girls Triumph Again!

Year 10 student success at speaking out.

On Tuesday 27th November, a team of Year 10 students led by Mr Williams won the Kingston Rotary, Youth Speaks competition at the Holiday Inn, Kingston.

The Senior Youth Speaks Competition is run by the Rotary Club for students between the ages of 14-17. The girls competed against three other schools, some of which were a lot older than them. Their speech they presented was called 'Show Your Pride' and was about LGBT rights.

The girls involved were all from Year 10.  Maddie Rose Hill (Vote of Thanks), Georgie Hayley (Main Speaker) and Daisy Whitlie (Chair Person) whose topic was 'Show Your Pride' about LGBT rights.

As well as winning overall, Maddie also won best Vote of Thanks which is a fantastic achievement in itself.

A member of the public commented 'How wonderfully fierce your girls were. That's what I call a triumphant win!  Well done Coombe Girls.'

Fingers crossed for future success as there is one more round in the competition which is held in the summer.
