Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition
Our Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh candidates completed their practice Bronze Expedition during April.
Attempting to cover approximately 10km over the weekend, the students had to navigate their way through the Epsom Downs while carrying their own packs. This proved quite difficult at times as some of the path was very hilly.
The group were lucky with the weather while they walked as it was sunny and warm. However, on the Saturday night, a thunderstorm struck the campsite keeping everybody awake and testing the waterproofing on the tents. Unfortunately, some equipment did get wet but they were able to dry it out on the Sunday.
Mr Wozniak was impressed with the group as he stated, “They have done really well. We are very hopeful for their next expedition as they have really begun to develop their map skills.”
