Creative Coombe at Kew
Coombe gets creative at Kew Gardens this term.
Year 10 GCSE Art students travelled to Kew Gardens to gain inspiration for their current body of work, which is based on the topic of Natural Forms. Students embraced the opportunity to engage with their environment as young artists and also develop their botanical knowledge! The annual trip to Kew enables students to make the connection between their classroom studies and the outside world to gain inspiration for their future work. Students were able to explore several of the conservatories in the gardens to study an array of rare and interesting plants where they drew from observation and recorded additional primary sources through photography. Students thoroughly enjoyed the visit, despite the typical inclement weather for the yearly occasion and their teacher suggesting that they work outside in the gardens to produce more “authentic drawings”. A valued experience, enjoyed by all involved!
