  • Geography Year 11 Swanage tripĀ

    Published 22/10/15

On a sunny Friday October morning, 36 intrepid Year 11 Geography students (and 4 staff) headed southbound to Swanage in Dorset for the biannual fieldtrip. The trip, designed to aid students understanding of the coastal topics studied in class as part of the GCSE syllabus, is always popular and this year has been no exception. The weekend was spent learning about coastal processes and the formation of key geographical features at locations such as Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Stopping for a well earned rest, and a cream tea for some, in the pretty little honeypot site of Corfe was followed by a trip on the Swanage Express - a Hogwarts style Steam Train. After a night at the local Youth Hostel, we packed up and visited the iconic Old Harry Rocks and the beautiful Studland Beach to get to grips with more coastal concepts before heading home for a well earned sleep.
