Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award Assessed Expedition
Silver Duke of Edinburgh candidates successfully completed their assessed expedition over the weekend in the spectacular scenery of the New Forest.
Setting off on Friday morning, our group arrived at their starting point late morning before making their way through the tracks of the New Forest towards camp. The wild New Forest ponies with their foals and Highland cattle provided an entertaining addition to the hike.
The next morning, students utilised their map and compass skills planning the route to their second campsite. Numerous check points were successfully navigated and done so with aplomb, despite the occasional wrong turn here and there!
Students arrived at the final campsite on the Saturday night. A welcome break, following a particularly challenging day of hiking as temperatures dropped and the rain began. On Sunday morning, students packed up swiftly and carefully before going on to successfully complete the last stage of the expedition.
A huge congratulations and well done to all who took part.
