Enrolment at Coombe Sixth Form
What is ‘enrolment’ and what happens ?
Enrolment is the process where you officially join Coombe Sixth Form and sign onto the courses that you want to study. Remember that you can sign onto courses that you may not have put on your original application and staff will be available to advise you in these choices.
Also remember that at Coombe we are as flexible as possible and if you change your mind after enrolment, it is possible to change your course choices – in fact, it is possible to change courses up until one month after the start of term. Please note, however, that you can only move into a new course if there are places available on it.
At enrolment, we also take your photograph for your identity card, check your exam results and eligibility to study in a UK school sixth form and collect your £30 Sixth Form Fund contribution.
When does enrolment take place and how long does it take ?
Enrolment starts immediately after the GCSE results are released on Thursday. August 23rd and runs from 9.00 am until 3.00 pm. Enrolment then continues at the same times on Friday, 24th and then on Wednesday 29th.
Enrolment usually takes around 30 minutes, but it can take longer if you need advice with your course choices.
Please note that enrolment for the Advanced Centre and Vocational Centre all takes place at the Coombe Girls’ School site.
What do I need to bring with me on the day ?
It is very important that you bring the right information with you on the day. You will need:
o Your exam results slips. These can usually be collected from your school on the August 23rd onwards.
o Your passport or birth certificate
o Your Sixth Form Fund payment of £30.00. Please note that you can pay this by standing order - which saves the school money. If you wish to do this, please print and complete and sign the standing order form from this website and bring it with you on the day.
What if I am away or can’t get to enrolment ?
The best advice is to be here for enrolment. If you are going to be away on holiday, it is important that you arrange for someone to come to enrolment and sign you onto your chosen courses on your behalf. The best way to do this is to write a letter that they can bring with them.
Be sure to detail your name, your current school and the course choices that you require. It is a good idea to put your choices in order of preference and include a ‘reserve’ option in case one of your choices is not available.
If you are going to miss enrolment because of unforeseen circumstances such as a flight delay, we suggest that you contact the school as soon as possible. Telephone messages or emails can be left for either Ms Walsh or Mr Peters. Contact details are at the bottom of this page. Please note that we cannot guarantee that we can respond to calls or messages quickly during enrolment – it is an extremely busy time of year.
