Departmental Information
Key stage 3:
In Music, the National Curriculum is followed and it includes the activities of Performing, Composing, Listening and Appraising. The main emphasis is to enable pupils to have a practical experience of Music through active participation.
There are a variety of extra-curricular activities for pupils to join in at Coombe. These may include:
• Orchestra
• Chamber Choir
• Coombe Choir
• Theory Club
• Steel Pan Groups
• Musical Allsorts
Key stage 4:
At key stage 4 we follow the Edexcel GCSE course.
The course is a combination of performing, composing and listening. All of the work is related to 4 areas of study including classical music, 20th century music, blues, reggae, musicals and world music. If you sing in the Chamber Choir, play in the Orchestra or take part in musical activities out of school, you can use these skills and performances as part of your coursework for Performing on the Course.
