Modern Foreign Languages
Departmental Information
First language: During year 7, pupils will learn to understand, speak, read and write the foreign language. They will become familiar with the sounds, written form and grammar in order to use the language in role plays, conversations, written tasks, songs and language games. In addition to this, pupils will learn about the countries, places and communities where the language is spoken and increase their cultural awareness through contact with speakers and authentic materials. Pupils will be expected to use the target language as the normal means of communication in lessons.
Second language: During year 7, pupils will receive a basic introduction to a second language alongside ICT in an innovative programme. While developing ICT skills in different areas, pupils will use their second language for many of the tasks undertaken.
At GCSE we follow the AQA full and short courses
