Departmental Trips
Geography is a dynamic subject and fieldwork is an essential component. Trips include:
Year 7 – Kingston Town Centre
Visit our own local slice of history and discover for yourself how the function of Kingston has changed since Saxon times. Find out how people view and use Kingston today, then produce a fun project or presentation about your day.
Year 8 – Seven Sisters Country Park
How do ancient rocks influence the shape of a modern landscape? What impact does fluvial (river) erosion have on the shape of the countryside? Think about all of this and how the surfing waves of the English Channel can alter our world famous, iconic White Cliffs on a day to remember in the Seven Sisters Country Park.
Year 10 – GCSE Field Trip to Dorking
Gain valuable and first hand experience of the impact that people have on their built environment. Then produce a GSCE coursework project about your findings.
Year 11 – South Dorset (optional)
The coastal and settlement geography of South Dorset. Learn about how people have changed the way that the towns and villages of this part of England are used. Then discover the majesty and mystery of the Jurassic coast – a World Heritage Site.
Apart from the Year 7 trip, where school uniform must be worn, pupils will be expected to wear appropriate clothing for a field trip on all other visits. Each trip will have a specific list but it will normally include:
Sensible clothing and shoes
Waterproof jacket as appropriate
Pencils (biros don’t write in the wet!)
Clipboard (department’s can be borrowed)
Large clear plastic bag to cover clipboard in wet weather
