Business Studies
Departmental Information
GCSE Business Studies aims to provide you with a sound understanding of the basics of starting up and developing a business. We follow the AQA GCSE course.
The course also helps to develop your thinking skills as to why some businesses are very successful, whereas others are not and often end in failure.
Through studying at GCSE level, you will gain real insights into the role of business in everyday life. This will help prepare you for the world of work and life as a knowledgeable consumer of goods and services.
You will learn about business by studying at a variety of industries (e.g. fashion, fast-food, mobile telecommunications, etc.) and a range of different types of companies (e.g. Next, H&M, Claire Accessories, Nike, Cadburys, Sky, Body Shop, Apple, Sony, Nokia, BMW, etc.).
You will also examine key issues and trends that affect business (e.g. the growth of Internet shopping, globalisation, the European Union, public concerns about selling unhealthy food products, etc.).
