National Music Competition

Scarlett Ketteman: One step closer to the 02 Arena

Talented Guitarist Scarlett Ketteman has impressed judges yet again, to make it through to the area finals of a National Music Competition. Having already made it to the Regional Finals last month, she is now one step closer to the O2.  The Year 10 singer began as one of 40,000 unsigned acts that are battling it out to win Live and Unsigned.

14 year old Scarlett, who taught herself to play the guitar, said it is her dream to become a world class performer. “It would be amazing, that’s what I aspire to really. That’s my goal”.

As well as the opportunity to play at the 02 Arena, the competition could mean that she will play at various music festivals in the country.  Her music will also be heard by industry experts such as BBC Radio One, Kerrang and NME.

In the past, Scarlett has performed on Kingston Radio and came second in the 2011 Kingston Young Performer of the Year Competition, although she admits that Live and Unsigned has been far more nerve-wracking.  “I am really happy about it, but I was really nervous”.  It’s like the X Factor style auditions. I had to sing to the judges and play the guitar; they then called me back and told me I had got through. I was really happy.”

The area final will be held in May at The Beck Theatre in Hayes, Middlesex.  We wish Scarlett the very best of luck!
