Key Stage 3 Literacy Intervention

Key Stage 3 Literacy Intervention Strategy

At the start of Year 7 all English teachers will re-assess new students’ work taking into account their Key Stage 2 results as well as their own, more recent, observations and marks. Those students who are identified as needing additional support in order for them to access the curriculum will be slotted into one of the week’s vacuum sessions for extra input. Here they will gain general skills and practice as well as more focussed approaches on their own particular areas needing attention as identified and reported by their class teacher. All students will be provided with their own - very engaging and comprehensive - literacy workbook, paper and a file to keep material organised. They will be expected to bring these to each session. Short home-learning tasks will be given to consolidate each session’s learning.
