COOMBE GIRLS GRILL LBC NEWS 1152'S DRIVETIME ANCHOR
It was a lesson with a difference for 60 Coombe Girls. Instead of their normal studies they found themselves grilling LBC NEWS 1152's Richard Midson. Richard, who is a former pupils of Coombe Boys School and lives in Berrylands, has been working in the media for 8 years and came back to show the pupils what he had learnt.
Sinead White, 15 said "At one point, Richard asked for two people who had told a
fib recently to come up. He really went for this girl before me, but luckily
when it came to my turn, he wanted to show what it was like to be
interviewed by someone nice."
Richard, who currently presents a daily London wide news programme, The Evening Report said, "I wanted them to see some of the real skills involved in being on the radio. It is not just about talking!”
Keith Roberts, joint Head of Media Studies said, "It was great having Richard here because it allows the girls to see and hear about media practice from the inside."
Nicola Davies, 15 says "It was really good fun. It’s nice to know that being nosey is actually really good quality in Richard's job. I love to know secrets."
Richard added, "It’s great to be able to pass on the advice I have
learnt the hard way. Perhaps one day I'll be working with some of them."
