AS/A2
AQA 8345
AS and A Level courses in Polish should aim to:
a. develop students’ ability to understand the written form of Polish from a variety of registers;
b. encourage students to communicate confidently, clearly and effectively in Polish through the written word, using increasingly accurate, complex and varied language;
c. increase students’ sensitivity to language and language learning and develop positive attitudes to language learning;
d. develop students’ insights into, and encourage contact with, the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of Polish speaking countries or communities.
e. provide a suitable foundation for further study and/or practical use of Polish;
f. provide a coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study for students who do not progress to further study in the subject.
In addition, A Level courses should aim to:
g. provide a sufficient basis for further study at degree level or equivalent.
AS Examination 5686
Advanced Subsidiary Unit 1
3 hours 100% of the total AS mark 50% of the total A Level mark 5686
Written paper, consisting of reading comprehension, translation into
English and writing in Polish.
A2 Examination 6686
Advanced Unit 2
3 hours 50% of the total A Level mark 6686
Written paper consisting of reading comprehension, translation into
Polish and two essays on topics or texts in Polish.
