Drama Workshop News

Last term, Year 11 GCSE students took part in an all day assessed workshop as part of their GCSE Drama Examination. Throughout the day we looked at recent events in Afghanistan- regarding the Taliban- and the story surrounding Los Desaparecidos (The Dissappeared) - which took place in 1976-1983 in Argentina. The day focused on the theme of Oppression and through various workshops we explored what people, mainly women, went through; the dramatic change in their lives before and after the political groups invaded. The Taliban in Afghanistan and the political party run by General Pinochet in Argentina both present similar issues for women and the total violation of human rights and equality was astounding to learn about. The whole day was an unforgettable experience-  the classes were extremley focused, the anticipation and tension while waiting for the next workshop was extraordinary. The drama was so involved and realistic that we almost felt that we were actually there - and not just in one of the drama studios. It was an amazing experience that was very cleverly organised and  well executed. A big thanks to all the drama teachers for an excellent day.
