As you are aware, a series of meetings with stakeholders took place at the school recently as part of the Academy Status consultation and we would like to thank all those who attended. The governors agreed that the discussions had been constructive and a list of the questions asked is available to view below.
There were also two written submissions. In response the governors firstly agreed that the consultation was sufficiently comprehensive and had been conducted with due diligence. They also confirmed that there are no plans to change either the current level of in-school support for non-statemented children or the current admissions criteria giving priority to looked after children.
On behalf of the Governing Body, I would therefore like to inform you that after careful consideration of the issues raised the governors of Coombe Girls’ School & Sixth Form voted to convert to Academy status with a target date of 1st February 2012.
We recognise that this is a very significant decision for the school and will undertake to keep you regularly updated on progress.
