This is a really simple way of raising money- we have generated over
£160 from 16 people via just 2 groups. Imagine what we could raise if
all our online Xmas shopping was done via Easyfundraising.
PFA Information for Parents and Friends
As parents, you are automatically members of the Parents and Friends Association. Our prime aim is to raise money for items which directly benefit the pupils and for which the school do not always have the available funds.
We would welcome any parent who wishes to become more involved in fundraising to consider becoming a member of the PFA committee.
You get an opportunity to learn more about the school and, together with your children, feel more a part of the school community. Our girls often come along willingly to help us set up at events, design and put up posters or help on our stalls and as a result they become far more positive about and involved in their school.
It also allows parents to gain an insight into the workings of the school which is harder to maintain when the girls reach High school and the day to day contact is lost.
As a committee we only meet once a month and we strive to end our meetings by 8pm. We are fortunate in that we are joined each time by a member of the school’s leadership team and they often ask us to contribute our opinion on school issues.. It also enables them to liaise directly with us as to which items they would like us to raise money for.
In the recent past we have contributed towards the sound system in the Sports Hall, a laser printer in the DT dept, and a wide screen television which you will see on the stage. We are about to make available funds for a data logger to assist the IT in the Science dept. We have also provided the School with: a set of the hand held voting devices to use with Promethean IWBs. some new leotards for the Novice Gymnastics Club. Some athletics vests that can be used by our cross country teams in the winter as well as our athletics teams in the summer; a digital camera/video camera to be used by Heads of Year to record our wonderful year group events, such as Learning to Learn days and the Year 11 Leavers’ event; a dye sublimation machine for the Key Stage Three, GCSE and A level textiles students; two sets of African musical instruments to be used by all Year 8 students as part of their My World project on African music. It will make such a difference to be able to use authentic instruments for all the students in a whole class piece
Every year we organise a Christmas Fair, a Raffle, tombola at the Malden fortnight, a new parents cheese and wine evening with a pupils’ disco and a recent addition – a quiz night.
If attending a committee meeting isn’t for you, then please sign up to our register of helpers. This means that at our larger events when we need more people to man stalls or assist in another way, we can call on you for just an hour or two’s help. This register is invaluable to us and we could not exist without this backup. If you would like to do this or require any further information, please email us at info@coombe-girls-pfa.org.uk
Another excellent way of supporting us is to sign up for the Lucky Lottery. For a donation of £12 a year or £1 paid monthly, you have the chance every term to win a cash prize. The more people that join, the greater the prize.
Please follow the link to the Lucky Lottery forms which you can complete and send to us. Click here for Lucky Lottery.
You can also help us enormously by encouraging your daughter to bring along something to the two mufti days a year, buying a Christmas or chocolate pudding, purchasing a raffle ticket, coming along to the Fair, or even buying your Christmas tree from us.
I do hope that you will be encouraged to support us in whatever way you can.
