Rag Week Extravaganza
Coombe Sixth Form’s charity Rag Week ended with a sheer burst of creative energy. On Thursday 15th March the students displayed their talents in the form of a ‘Moulin rouge’ style ‘rag club’.
The school hall was transformed into a starry, atmospheric club with candle lit round tables, high tech lights and a stage bathed in magical colour, state of the art projections and pyrotechnics.

The evening gave the audience an eclectic range of performances that ranged from Indian dancers, the ‘spicettes’, musical duets, cirque du soleil type gymnastics, an extract from Alan Ayckbourns’ ‘A time in the park’ and a fashion show showing Coombe students A level textile pieces and many more. One of the many highlights from the evening was the finale and when all the cast came on stage to dance to a song from ‘high school musical’ – we’re all in this together.
Mrs Carol Campbell stated ‘It is great to see the cultural diversity within the sixth form and the amazing talents that the pupils have. The confidence and maturity on show gives me the knowledge that they are prepared for an amazing world of opportunities’.
This ended a hugely successful week for Coombe Sixth Form, who raised over £3,500 for the Uranga Kenya School Project which provides education and shelter for orphaned children in a poverty stricken area of Kenya. Their message this year is ‘The little we do will mean the world to them’. Events included a collection in Kingston town centre, a teacher versus student ‘Dodge ball’ competition, a bouncy castle and lots more!
