Rag Week Extravaganza
Coombe Sixth Form ended their Rag Week events on Wednesday 8th March in style with a grand finale, a Rag Club concert based on the theme ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’. This saw the school hall converted into a giant hot-air balloon and the sixth form students transporting the audience around the world through music, drama, poetry, comedy and dance.
Performances ranged from Sakoba African dance, the Haka, an extract from Franz Kafka’s play ‘Metamorphosis’, a fashion show showing Coombe students A’ level textile pieces and many more. (click here for pictures).
One of the many highlights from the evening was Katherine Miller who performed her winning speech on ‘Sloth’ from the Rotary Club Senior Public Speaking Competition. She wowed the audience with her sophisticated and witty speech on the benefits of being slovenly!
Mrs Carol Campbell stated ‘It is great to see the cultural diversity within the sixth form and the amazing talents that the pupils have. The confidence and maturity on show gives me the knowledge that they are prepared for an amazing world of opportunities’.
This ended a hugely successful week for Coombe Sixth Form, who raised over £3,000 for the Asian Earthquake Appeal and Save the Children, which were voted for by the students. Events included a collection in Kingston town centre, a teacher versus student ‘Dodge ball’ competition, a bouncy castle and lots more!
