The curriculum theme for Year 9 is ‘My Opportunities’. Through this theme, we aim to inform and guide students about the different pathways through Key Stage Four and beyond. We aim to develop students’ understanding of different careers and help them develop the skills to be successful, whatever they chose to do whilst at school and afterwards.
The theme is picked up by subject teachers who spend time in their lessons looking at how their subject links to possible future careers. The two PHSE days also focus on helping students make informed choices about their future.
The highlight of Year 9 for many students is Enterprise Week in the summer term. During this week, students work in teams to plan, create, design and sell a product in school so learning and developing skills such as teamwork and creativity, and knowledge of areas such as business practices and finance.
