Debaters in Year 9 Proudly Represent Coombe and Kingston-Upon-Thames
Recent news from the English Speaking Union on the pan-London Debating Competition places Coombe debaters high in the overall ranks.
Hazura Bazeer, Katharine Bracey, Rachel Turner and Phoebe Lindsey represented Kingston in the summer term after defeating other schools in the local borough-wide competition. At the pan-London finals the girls were up against top debaters from 31 other boroughs. With only 6 hours of practice, the girls went on to win several rounds, earning themselves and Kingston 5th place. The main speakers – Hazura, Katharine and Rachel – also accumulated a large number of points, with the judges placing their collective speaking skills in 3rd place overall. An impressive achievement.
